So I've been out of town for the past week and didn't have a chance to sew at all. Needless to say, I didn't make much progress on the WIP front. BUT, I did manage to work a bit on my City Sampler Quilt since I last showed you. It is all basted and ready for quilting. Here's hoping I can finish it soon...although I have 3 papers & 2 midterms due this week...so perhaps after I complete all that fun I can reward myself with a nice finish.

Crushing on Anna Maria Horner
A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to win Darcy's awesome giveaway of this beautiful Anna Maria Horner's Innocent Crush line. Not only am I now the proud owner of these beautiful fabrics, but I also get to use this beautiful journal that has graph paper in it -- it is perfect for all my quilt planning!
To say that I was over the moon to win this giveaway is certainly an understatement. I missed out on the chance to buy a lot of these fabrics, so I can't wait to use them...now to find the perfect project!
Anyone have any suggestions?

Blogger's Quilt Festival: Baby Love
Crazy how much time flies, I can't believe it is time for another edition of the Blogger's Quilt Festival over at AmysCreativeSide. I really do look forward to this each year because I love looking at all the fabulous quilts people have made...and quite often I discover a few new blogs to follow. This year I am out of town for most of the festival so I will have to do a lot of catch up reading.
Anyway, after a lot of thought I finally settled on the heart quilt I made for my friend's new baby girl. This quilt holds a special place in my heart because it is for one of my friends who struggled to have children for quite sometime and then was blessed enough to give birth to a healthy baby girl.
I really enjoyed making this quilt because it has all of my favorite quilting elements...simple, linen, solids, half square triangles, purple...and I am especially fond of the ombre effect in the binding.
I am entering this quilt in the favorite baby quilt category.

WIP Wed: City Sampler
This week I have been swamped with reading for school (good thing my other favorite hobby besides sewing is reading) but I have managed to take a break every now and then to spend some time at the sewing machine. I find that when I take time for myself I am much more productive in my studies.
I decided to sew up a few city sampler blocks. At first I wasn't sure if I would like piecing these blocks because they are so tiny (they finish at 6x6) compared to the 10-12 inch blocks I usually sew. However, I was overjoyed to discover that sewing these together has been cathartic and actually relaxing.
On Saturday I am going to a sewing retreat with some of my local sewing friends for the day and I hope to get a lot more finished on this, plus get some work done (aka finish cutting and start piecing) on a star quilt I'm working on. I also want to do some work on a few patterns I'm writing. Oh and I want to sew 2 bags too. Hmm...I wonder if I should prioritize my projects??
I'm linking up to Lee's series over at freshly pieced. Be sure to check it out to see what other projects people have been up to this week.

On the Cutting Table
When I came home from my local quilt store with an array of prints in one of my favorite color combos - mustard, navy, raspberry, and light gray - I couldn't wait to start cutting into it. I already have a project in mind for these fun prints and hope to finish it soon. Yes, I know I have a stack of unfinished projects a mile high that I should be working on...but when creativity strikes, you can't ignore it!

Taking Flight
For the inspire circle of do.Good Stitches we were asked to make red and blue airplane blocks following a tutorial written by Amy of Badskirt fame. Amy's tutorial was easy to follow and these blocks will make a fun quilt to be donated to a child in need.
